Silvie and her husband Sebastian were among the first 155 participants in ALPIN8 Everesting. The two prepared for their Everesting with the ALPIN8 training plan. After successfully completing half an Everesting in April as part of their preparation, Silvie knew that she would be able to complete a full Everesting in July. <\/b>Silvie tells us how it went for the two of them in this field report:<\/b><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

“It was with great excitement that we set off from Zurich to Brandnertal to take part in the first European Everesting event Alpin8. The plan: to conquer 8,848 meters of altitude in up to 36 hours – a challenge that demanded physical and mental strength. After months of intensive training, my husband and I were ready. On arrival, we were given well-equipped starter bags and a warm briefing, during which the team, the mountain railroad and the mountain rescue service enthusiastically introduced themselves. The event promised unforgettable moments in the breathtaking mountain scenery. <\/span><\/p>\n

We set off at 5:00 in the morning<\/b><\/p>\n

We started the first ascent at 5 a.m. together with a diverse group of participants. The route was carefully planned: A technically challenging day’s route with changing scenery – from dense forest to a waterfall to a ski slope that seemed steeper with every ascent. At the mountain station, refreshments, seating and the cable car were waiting to take us quickly back down to the valley. The breaks were well thought out and allowed us to keep up the rhythm and recharge our batteries in between. The refreshment stations offered snacks, drinks and, above all, the motivating words of the team of helpers, who picked us up during the toughest moments. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

It was impressive to see how the participants supported each other and had inspiring conversations. Whether experienced mountaineers or spontaneous participants without much training – everyone got talking to each other, shared stories and spurred each other on. <\/span><\/p>\n

We motivated each other<\/b><\/p>\n

I finally had to give up my goal of completing as many climbs as possible without a sleep break on Saturday evening in heavy rain. After 12 laps, I went to sleep to continue refreshed in the morning. After an alarm clock ringing at 4:45 a.m., I started my second day and found that the rain had subsided. On the first ascent of the second day, I met another participant who had run through the night in the rain and had completed just as many laps as me. Together we motivated each other and climbed further and further up the soggy path. I particularly liked the variety between the day and night sections, as it meant that there were always new challenges and experiences. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The beauty of Everesting is that every single step leads closer to the goal, and when the moment came for me to take the final turn-off on the last climb, I was overcome with an incredible feeling of pride and relief. After 24 hours of climbing, I had reached my personal Everest. <\/span><\/p>

Applause in the finish area<\/b><\/p>\n

I was greeted by applause in the finish area and received an ALPIN8 cap as a small finisher gift. I would receive a medal and certificate in the afternoon at the final get-together with everyone. Until then, I used the time to take a hot shower and relax. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
